Sets the Standards for Shipping Professionalism World Wide

ICS – 20TH ANNUAL AWARDS CEREMONY

The Twentieth Annual Awards Ceremony of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers – Sri Lanka Branch (ICS-SL) held on the 21st February 2014, at 1800 hrs at the Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel under the distinguished patronage of Mr. Richard Brook-Hart – International Chairman of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers. Besides, Mr. S Palitha Fernando, the Attorney General, was participated, as the Keynote Speaker and Hon. Karu Jayasuriya FICS., M.P., (senior-most member of our Branch); was presented at the event.

The ‘Annual Awards Ceremony’ features as an important, the most looked forward to and the most colourful event in the local shipping almanac attended by the Members of the Diplomatic Missions in Sri Lanka as Guests of Honour and the elite of the local shipping community as special invitees.

Besides the Diplomas; Advanced Diplomas, Membership Certificates and medals which were conferred on the successful candidates who qualify the annual international examination conducted by the ICS London; ‘Special Awards’ were presented to;

The ‘Best Shipping Agent for Customer Services’ in the key trade sectors from Colombo viz., the USA/Canada; UK/Europe; Mediterranean, Red Sea & Gulf, India Subs, and Inter-Asia. The winners of ‘The Best Shipping Agent’ Awards were selected through an independent Survey conducted by an independent professional institution, among the users of the various shipping services, over the specified period of twelve months.

The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers – UK is widely accepted as the only professional body that sets the highest standards of professional service to the shipping industry the world over. The Members/Fellows of ICS take extraordinary pride in living upto the Institute’s motto “OUR WORD OUR BOND”; indeed a hallmark of professionalism in this global industry. Thus the ‘ICS Club’ is an Exclusive Society and there are no parallels in existence, at present.
